Skills for Managing Through Challenging Times
Are you struggling with the live streaming of genocide and the other polycrises facing the world?
Is the current political climate constantly feeling overwhelming?
Do you want to manage better so that you can stay engaged with things that matter to you?
So often the advice for those of us who are feeling under threat or overwhelmed by the horror-filled news cycle is to limit time spent reading, watching and talking about it. That doesn’t actually resource us to be able to engage with the causes that are important to us though. In this workshop, we will be looking at how you can build the capacity and resources to stay informed and be actively engaged.
The learning intentions of this half day (3 hour) workshop are:
Explore the difference between emotional avoidance, emotion regulation and managing our state,
Identify a variety of ways we can manage during challenging times such as this,
Consider how to put these into practice in our daily lives.
It can be booked by individuals (check here for upcoming workshops) or organisations on request.
Working Cross-Culturally 101
Are you a helping professional who wants to level up your ability to work with people who are different from you?
Do you want to learn more about how to work specifically with LGBTQIA+, kinky, BDSM practitioners and non-monogamous people?
In this workshop we focus on working cross-culturally with LGBTQIA+, kinky, BDSM practitioners and non-monogamous people. This is not about learning a list of do’s and don’t’s and instead brings awareness of power, privilege and oppression into working with these populations. You’re encouraged to think deeply and critically about the things being discussed.
This day (6.5 hour) workshop has the following learning intentions:
Explore what we mean by ‘culture’,
Understand the difference between cultural competence and cultural humilty,
Identify the importance of cultural humility,
Understand the concepts of privilege and oppression,
Explore our own identities as a foundation for working cross-culturally,
Develop skills for discussing privilege and oppression,
Acknowledging the impact of shame on our ability to work cross-culturally.
This can be booked by individuals or organisations on request.
